Unlike its raw Volcanic Lava Rock brother, this rolled lava rock is oval shaped and much smoother overall. It provides a unique element to your outdoor entertaining space by balancing the chaos of nature with intentional design. This media is relatively lightweight, but durable, and is a classic outdoor media type because of its versatile look and affordability. The normally black hue of this rock will turn a shade of red when burning in your fire but will return to black once cooled. To use this lava rock as a filler, place it atop your burner, and then fill your preferred media, such as fire glass, on top. Just make sure to not put more than 1" of any media above your burner. Any more and your burner won't get the oxygen it needs to burn bright!

Unsure on how much lava rock to order? Our helpful Fire Glass Calculator can actually be used to help you get the right amount. Input the dimensions requested, but instead of ordering the fire glass quantity result, cut the number into three quarters (3/4). So, if the calculator tells you that you need 80 lbs of fire glass, you only need to order 60 lbs of rolled lava rock. And when in doubt, it's best to round up! Better to have too much lava rock instead of not enough.
