I have had this guard on our firepit for a week now and so far it appears to is a quality product. The height (8.5") seems greater than I expected, but the height may be a necessity to prevent the flame from being blown out since the burner area is a relatively large 24" diameter. The heat-resistant glass is very thick and solid, and when assembled the guard is seemingly a pretty sturdy product. My only nit is with the rubber feet that are provided on the glass connectors for the bottom of the guard. The four bottom connectors each have a rubber foot that provides a cushion for the guard on the table. They are not super-secure in the connectors, but they did not fall out when I turned the guard upside down to place it on the firepit table, so okay. That said, I have not taken the guard on and off repeatedly and so can't say whether that will become a problem over time. My only other comment is that the glass will prevent any significant warmth of the fire from getting through to the people sitting around the table, so if you are looking for significant warmth from the fire then you probably will want to take it off. The glass eventually does get hot and so after a while you likely will get some warmth radiating from the glass. On the other hand, if there is a significant breeze, then the fire can go out (which happened once when the guard was not on) and so you will want to have the guard on it if it is breezy or windy.
