Founded in 2005 by Bob Roman, Fire by Design is based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. At the start of his business career, Bob quickly learned that repackaging the outdoor-ready components that were industry standards at the time caused more problems than they offered solutions. After experiencing first-hand some of these problems, Bob set out to find a better solution for the creation of outdoor automated fires.

This led to the launch of an extensive research and development program, to find just the right solution. That solution came in the form of a programmed circuit board that could automatically compensate for the effects that came from the elements like rain and wind. The launch of this new all-weather system transformed the outdoor fire feature industry, making it possible to enjoy the warmth and ambience of a fire even when there are winds in excess of 55 mph.
