It’s difficult to find someone that doesn’t enjoy a good fire. The dancing flames seem to hypnotize us and captivate our attention while the warmth it gives off comforts and make us feel safe. However, not all of us are fortunate enough to have a fireplace in our homes or fire pits in the back yard.

A decade ago, if you wanted to have a fireplace added to your home, it was a pretty big deal. It required having to find the right manufacturer or retailer with the type of fireplace you wanted, along with having to research and find the right contractor to have it installed. Today, things are much easier, and there is a wide variety in fireplaces, ranging from gas ranges that spring to life at the flip of a switch to portable, outdoor fire pits. With so many options, how to you go about choosing which one is right for you?

With so many options, not only in fireplace type but design as well, there’s a fireplace or fire pit to fit almost anyone. If you’re looking for a more traditional wood burning fireplace for your living room or master bedroom, than you’ve got a range of materials, finishes, and shapes to chose from. If you want an outdoor fire pit for your backyard, than you have a massive amount of designs, shapes, materials, and even fuel sources.

When it comes to choosing one that’s right for you, you need to think about your specific situation and the room you have to work with. With little or no yard space, an outdoor fire pit most likely won’t be the best option for you. If, on the other hand, you find yourself with ample yard space but little or not appropriate place to install an indoor fireplace, than an outdoor fire pit is most likely your best bet.

Don’t think that the decisions stop at whether or not to have your fire inside or out. There are also a wide range of fireplace and fire pit accessories, such as fire glass, to give a personal and customized look and feel to your gas fireplace or fire pit. The fire glass is recommended with gas fueled fireplaces, since the traditional wood burning ones create soot and ash, which can quickly cover up and possibly discolor the glass, essentially negating their initial purpose as decorations.

There’s a wide range of choices when it comes to how you’re going to enjoy the beauty and warmth of a fire at your home. With the wide range of options available, as well as a plethora of installation options, there has never been a better time to get a new fireplace or fire pit for your home.
