HPC offers a variety of fire ignition types to meet your needs. The Match-Lit system provides simple manual operation, using a long-stem lighter and key valve for flame control. The Push-Button ignition offers battery-powered convenience with easy flame adjustment. For advanced control, the Electronic Ignition system allows you to manage the flame via remote, wall switch, or app, and features automatic monitoring and relighting. For high-end and commercial settings, CSA Certified Systems provide enhanced safety and reliability. Each option is designed for ease of use and dependable performance.
Push Button Battery Ignition System (FPPK)
HPC’s top-tier system offers easy ignition control via wall switch, remote, or Smart Device App. It continuously monitors flame status and safety parameters, automatically shutting off and restarting if flame loss occurs. Plus, a protective metal “blow-out box” guards against wind extinguishing the flame.
Match Lit Ignition System (MLFPK)
This is HPC’s most straightforward certified fire pit insert, offering easy operation with minimal maintenance. To light, simply use a long-stem lighter near the burner perimeter and gradually open the key valve. Adjust the flame height by turning the key: counterclockwise for more flame, clockwise to lower it.
Electronic Ignition System (EI)
HPC’s top system offers easy flame control via wall switch, remote, or Smart Device App. It monitors flame status and safety parameters, automatically shutting off and restarting if the flame goes out. The pilot flame is also protected by a metal “blow-out box” to prevent wind blowouts.

While you enjoy the ambiance of your fire pit, the system continuously monitors flame status, internal temperatures, voltages, and other safety parameters. If a flame loss occurs, the system automatically shuts off the gas flow and restarts by initiating the Start sequence. Additionally, wind blowing out the flame is highly unlikely, as the pilot flame is surrounded and protected by a metal “blow-out box.”

This is HPC’s mid-range fire pit insert featuring safety pilot flame control. To ignite, simply push the ignition button and valve control knob, then adjust the flame using the knob. This battery-operated system provides flame sensing without the need for AC power, making it ideal for installations without electrical access. If the flame is lost, the system automatically shuts off the gas for added safety. The flame height can be easily adjusted using the valve control knob, offering a convenient and reliable solution.

Your new fire pit is installed, and you're excited to enjoy it. But before turning on the gas, be sure to run through this safety checklist. Gas can be dangerous if not used correctly, and taking a few moments now can prevent future issues and ensure the safety of your loved ones.
FAQs
It depends which model you choose. The lower 18" models DO NOT hold a propane tank inside, but can be used with a natural gas or propane gas line. The taller 22" "LPT" models DO hold a standard 20lb. BBQ propane tank. There is an access door on these models which allow you to access the tank as needed.
We designed and engineered the Mill to be an heirloom piece, built to last a lifetime. While certain components like ignitors or batteries may need replacement over time, you can expect your Mill Series fire pit to provide years of enjoyment. Crafted from stainless steel, this durable material, when properly maintained, can endure indefinitely.
Most installations can be completed in under an hour. While we strongly recommend having a licensed professional handle your gas hookup, your Mill fire pit comes with easy-to-follow instructions for minimal installation. If your gas and electric utilities are already in place, simply set the fire pit over them, connect the utilities and burner, test the setup, then add your fire glass or decorative topping, and enjoy!
We are based out of Temecula, California and try to ship every Edge order within 2-4 business days. Most configurations are ready to go, but other special-order configurations may require extra time to prepare. Once your order is ready to ship, expect a transit time of 2-7 days, depending on where in the USA you live.
