What is Bioethanol?
e-NRG fuel is a versatile and safe option for ventless indoor fireplaces, certified by government agencies for indoor use. This fuel is ideal for ventless fireplaces because it burns cleanly, producing only heat and steam—without any soot or smoke.
EcoSmart's stainless-steel bioethanol burners are specifically designed to be used with e-NRG bioethanol fluid, ensuring an efficient and cleaner burn. These burners are completely self-contained, requiring no external tanks or utility lines.
With clean-burning bioethanol, your firebox will remain free of soot, ash, and harmful emissions. Designed for ease of use and safety, EcoSmart burners include clear safety features that allow for easy flame regulation and maintenance.
Residential and commercial creative design possibilities are endless when you use a Flex Series model.

FAQs
The manufacturer offers a full two-year warranty from the date of purchase on stainless steel parts, including raw, finished, and powder-coated components. Mild steel, including powder-coated and chrome-plated items, as well as concrete composite, glass, leather, fabric, and MDF (painted or cement-rendered), are covered for one year from the date of purchase. Please note that chips and scratches are not covered under the warranty.
If the product has been modified or altered in any way, it will not be covered under warranty unless the modifications were approved in writing by EcoSmart Inc. or The Fire Company Pty Ltd.
For any inquiries about warranties, please contact EcoSmart Fire at customersupport@ecosmartfire.com.
To be covered under warranty, the product must be returned in its original packaging along with all accessories. Once the product has been installed or modified, it is no longer eligible for return. If any items are missing or if replacement packaging is required, the associated costs will be deducted from your credit or refund. Additionally, shipping and restocking fees may apply, even for new or unopened items.
Your fireplace is specifically designed and manufactured to function with EcoSmart Fire's e-NRG liquid ethanol fuel only. e-NRG is a unique liquid fuel, different from other options on the market. Using any other brand of fuel will void the burner's warranty.
e-NRG is the only fuel we recommend for use in EcoSmart Fires, as we have not tested other ethanol brands and cannot guarantee their performance or safety. Other brands may leave residue or cause unsightly staining, which can lead to a dirty burner—something no one wants.
It's important to note that using other fuels, such as natural gas, liquid propane, or gel fuels, is not recommended and could change the functionality of your fireplace or cause unintended consequences. For example, gel fuels contain thickening agents that can reduce heat output and fuel efficiency. They can also leave sticky residue in the burner, which could eventually impact safe operation. Gel fuels should only be used with burners specifically designed for them.
For optimal performance and safety, please use only EcoSmart Fire's e-NRG liquid fuel.
To maintain optimal performance, clean the burner after using approximately 50 liters of fuel or as soon as you notice any black residue forming around or on the burner.
Cleaning Steps:
- Preparation: Ensure the burner is off, empty of ethanol, and at room temperature.
- Surface Cleaning: Spray a multi-purpose cleaner on the burner's surface and wipe with a cloth, following the direction of the grain.
- Debris Removal: If material has fallen into the burner, use a vacuum cleaner to remove the debris through the burner opening.
- Deep Cleaning: If the burner smells unusually strong after extensive use, remove the empty, room-temperature burner from its surround and wash it in hot, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly under running water, and wait until the burner is completely dry before placing it back into its surround and reusing.
Important Note: Stainless steel will rust or corrode over time if contamination or debris is not cleaned or removed immediately.
Maintenance Tips:
- When not in use, protect your fireplace from water damage or corrosion by using a protective cover and regularly utilizing the burner lid included with your model.
EcoSmart Fires can be installed in almost any location, with a few exceptions. They cannot be installed in small rooms that do not meet our minimum room size requirements, which vary by burner. For all other installations, you must adhere to our mandatory clearances and installation instructions. Approval from local building authorities may also be required before installation.
Please ensure you consult the appropriate parties before installing your EcoSmart Fire.
The short answer is yes, but EcoSmart Fireplaces are primarily intended for new construction when an entirely new fireplace is desired. They are not specifically designed for converting or remodeling an existing masonry or gas fireplace, but they can be used if the dimensions align.
Bioethanol is labeled as "denatured" due to the addition of certain substances. These additives may cause a slight smell when the fuel is initially lit, but this odor dissipates over time. Similarly, there may be a slight odor when the flame is extinguished, much like the scent of blowing out a candle, which also fades quickly.
