Picking the right burner size can be intimidating, but there are some key guidelines that will help make the decision easier: the size of your fire pit and burner pan--or fireplace opening--as well as how much flame and heat you're looking to achieve.
Your burner should always be smaller than your fire pit, burner pan, or fireplace opening. We like to leave at least a 3" clearance on all sides. So, for a fire pit with a 48" burner pan, we'd want to use a 42" or 36" burner.
If you're wanting higher heat and more impressive flames, opt for the largest size burner that can comfortable fit in your fire pit or fireplace. Just make sure to speak to an installer to make sure that your fuel line will be able to support that bigger size!
