Outdoor Fire Pit Glass Requires Only a Little Sweat Equity | Starfire Direct

Contractor Amy Matthews has been hosting the DIY Network show Sweat Equity since 2006. The show’s focus is giving homeowners the tools and knowledge they need to take a $10,000 investment and get the most out of it for a higher value and curb appeal for their home. For Matthews, the siren call of throwing money at a problem is one to be avoided. She is very hands-on with her work. Showing how easy two people can retrofit and remodel their own world without requiring hired labor to do everything. Through simple step by step processes, she walks her audience through projects that might seem daunting without the education she provides to tackle them.

The Party Yard is Not Hard

The most recent episode that airs today, November 7th, 2012 at 10:30am (9:30 Central) is titled “The Party Yard,” and features a young couple named Jared and Jane who add an O.W. Lee built Santorini 42” Round Fire Pit to their massive backyard with difficult access to the rest of their property. This adds an interior flavor to their exterior space, warming the environment and encouraging them to entertain guests. Jared and Jane choose to fill their fire pit with sparkling fire glass made right here at Starfire Direct once it had been installed.

The Santorini 42″ Fire Pit built by O.W. Lee

The Santorini is available in a variety of finishes and porcelain tops. It has a powerful 57,000 BTU Stainless Steel Burner system and a 2-year warranty. The minimum it holds is 30 lbs of fire glass for a sparkling finish that will really have your guests talking. The unit does ship ready for propane use but can be adjusted for natural gas with ease once it arrives.

We’re very proud to be a part of this project with O.W. Lee and DIY and hope that this episode will be beneficial in showing the ease and comfort of installing one of our fire pits and how much it can dramatically change the look and feel of your home. Our helpline received a great volume of calls from people asking for advice on installing their own systems. We here at Starfire Direct hope that by directing you to this short half-hour episode it would expand your understanding about what is involved with owning your own fire pit and how easy it actually is.

DIY Network has full episodes of their shows available on their website. While the episode “The Party Yard,” won’t be available on the website for a few days, we will make sure to post a link to it here once it is available. If you can’t wait until then, feel free to tune into your local station for the DIY Network at 10:30am (9:30am Central) to catch the episode as it airs. We know we will.
