With a wholly humble start in Belleville, Illinois, Empire Comfort Systems grew from a sheet metal shop, founded in 1911 by Henry Bauer. In 1932 the company formally incorporated as a producer of sheet metal heaters and stepped into the burgeoning natural gas products industry.

This is a family-owned and operated business and has been continuously owned by a member of the Bauer family since 1932. Today Nick and Jane Bauer are representatives of the fourth Bauer generation to run the business.

Throughout the years, the company has seen wars, labor disputes, economic downturns and upswings, devastating fires, and changes in society. All through this, their dedication to affordable and efficient heating solutions has not wavered.

Empire Comfort Systems has proven itself to be a leader in the heating industry and has been responsible for many of the innovative solutions that paved the way for central and custom heating systems. They were the first to bring to market vent-free heaters that were equipped with an oxygen depletion sensor, and the first to market a gas-fired heater with an 80% efficiency rating. They later went on to market a vented gas fireplace that boasts a 90% efficiency rating.

Today the Empire Comfort Systems line of products include a range of heater and fireplace solutions, fireplace inserts, and more. Assembled in the USA, this is a company with a true blue American history.
